MC Events

The Mariners Club By-laws dictate that this club hold annual social, educational, and service events. The following are some of the summer, winter, and educational events, past and present, for the Mariners Club.

Spring and Summer Events

Dock Gala - normally held in June each year to open the boating season with a get to know your boat neighbor event. The 2020 Dock Gala has been canceled. We look forward to our 2021 Dock Gala.

Boat Tie Up Party - At least once a summer, Mariners Club members are invited to meet

on the lake and enjoy a "float about" and get to know your neighbors.

A date for this 2020 event has not yet been announced.

Boat Inspections - Every May, in conjunction with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, free boat inspections are performed and a picnic lunch held to honor the Auxiliary for their service. The May 26, 2020 date has been postponed. The Board will attempt to reschedule a date in 2020 once it is deemed safe and appropriate.

Boat Parade - Each Memorial Day weekend, there is a breakfast and boat parade around Norris Lake to celebrate the opening of the boating season (a/k/a Flotilla). The Mariners Club gives prizes to the best decorated boat. The 2020 date has been canceled.

Lake Cleanup - Mariners Club members pitch in to clean the shoreline of Sunset Bay, normally held each spring. The 2020 Lake cleanup was scheduled for March 28, 2020 but was canceled. We will be embarking on a joint project with Waterside to clean up the Lost Creek area on September 19, 2020 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. We will need volunteers with pontoon boats to assist in our efforts to help keep Norris Lake clean & beautiful. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Jenny in the Sunset Bay office. Once we receive additional details they will be emailed to the Sunset Bay community.

Fall and Winter Events

Winter Socials - These events are normally held in the offseason.

In February 2020, the Mariners Club sponsored a Wine Tasting Event, California uncorked: Napa Valley Wine Tasting & Beyond, at Total Wines and More in Knoxville.

Lake Cleanup - We will be embarking on a joint project with Waterside to clean up the Lost Creek area on September 19, 2020 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. We will need volunteers with pontoon boats to assist in our efforts to help keep Norris Lake clean & beautiful. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Jenny in the Sunset Bay office. Educational Events

Boating Safety Class - Normally held annually each spring.

In April 2019 the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and Auxiliary (AUX) hosted a successful boating safety class. The class targeted new boaters and boaters who wanted to learn more.

The April 2020 Class, The USCGA About Boating Safely and T.W.R.A. was originally scheduled for April 4, 2020 but has been canceled.
