The following Sunset Bay residents have been recognized for going above and beyond to make our community and the surrounding area a great place to live. We appreciate and honor each of you!

Todd and Jim
Many thanks to Todd and especially Jim for incredibly being able and willing to rescue my phone that was at the bottom of the lake! I assumed it was never going to surface again. Jim found it in one dive! For all of you who take your phones down to the lake, be sure you put it in a waterproof bag and secure the lanyard around your neck. Mine was able to survive 3 hours under the water! Jim you are a hero!

Mike
A big shout out to Mike, who as a good neighbor was able to get my boat back to running by replacing, installing and charging the batteries. Also teaching me how to run and park the boat with a great deal of patience. Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Tracy, Michael and Charlotte
Tracy, Michael, and Charlotte have all been exceptional neighbors. We have been away for several weeks and they have kept our grass cut, checked the mail, taken out the trash, and kept an eye on our home. Additionally, they always ask if we need anything and are willing to help in any way possible. We are so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors. Thank you for all you do!

Debbie
Coordinating renovations for our Sunset Bay home while we continue to live in Las Vegas, NV can be “challenging” on a good day. On numerous occasions we have had to reach out to our amazing neighbor Debbie - to retrieve Amazon packages, advise of contractor activity and product delivery, and to turn off lights (multiple times). Debbie has helped us often and continues to be amazingly proactive in letting us know of happenings and potential issues. Thank you again and again, Debbie! We’ll for sure have a permanent seat and cold beverage for you (and Kevin ????) on our upper deck once we finally move in full-time in 2028.

Todd, LeahNe', Darlene, Janet, Cathy
Thank you to Todd LeahNe', Darlene, Janet , and Cathy (the current NLPA Board) and the numerous volunteers who have assisted the NLPA over the last few years with removing trash, abandoned boats, Styrofoam, and other trash off/out of Norris Lake. We are so thankful for you and your generosity.

Tracy
Thank you Tracy for establishing Sunset Bay's Secret Sister Program in 2025. This program has encouraged numerous women over the past two years and has given them a new opportunity to meet someone they may not know and/or strengthen an existing relationship. It is also allowing the Sisters and the Sunset Bay community to encourage other people and organizations in Union County. We are so thankful for you and your generosity.
======================================================================================
Jen
Thank you Jen for being Sunset Bay's representative for Keep Union County Beautiful since at least 2018. Numerous times a year Jen coordinates for our community to pickup litter on Big Valley Road, Russell Brothers Road, and other roads leading into Sunset Bay. At times she coordinates these pickups with Keep Union County Beautiful and/or the Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department. We are so thankful for you and your generosity.

Pat
Thank you Pat for running Sunset Bay's Bunco program for over a decade. Once a month four different women prepare lunch and numerous women (the number of players ranges each month from 20-28 players) meet in the clubhouse to play Bunco. Every month Pat coordinates who will be playing, who will be a substitute, prepares the clubhouse for play, and collects money for the days event. Every year she coordinates a yearly Christmas lunch for us, purchases supplies, keeps track of the list of players, and keeps track of the women who will prepare the monthly lunch.
The meals prepared for us have been delicious, friendships have been created, and neighbors get to see what a wonderful community we live in at this monthly event thanks to every detail that Pat takes care of. We are so thankful for you and your generosity.

Debbie
Thank you Debbie for creating Sunset Bay's Dewey Decimals Book Club 15 years ago (in 2011).The books that we have read have broadened our knowledge of countless subjects; the discussions we've had have brought us closer together and allowed us to share our unique experiences; and our friendships have grown throughout these years. The books that have been donated by the Dewey Decimals and the Sunset Bay community to the Sharps Chapel Elementary School over the years have blessed numerous children and have helped create a lifelong love of reading.
The book club trips that you plan have been amazing and memorable. We are so thankful for you and your generosity.

Gretchen & Terry, Katie & Anthony
We had to leave for Ohio suddenly for a family emergency. We made one call to a neighbor letting them know about our situation. The Hart’s took care of our garbage and the Hart’s and Flesher’s took turns watering our garden and flowers, picking up our mail and when we did make it home our grass had also been cut! It is so wonderful to know that in our time of need our neighbors were here for us. Thank you all!

Greg & Sue
While Ed and I were on vacation a mighty wind blew our dock furniture into the lake, including two wrought iron chairs vintage 1995. These chairs had sat on our dock for 12 years, unaffected by wind. Upon our return I mentioned this, in passing, to Sue and Greg. The next thing I know they are pulling into my driveway, Greg making finding the chairs a challenge. Greg had brought a home "gaff hook" type implement that he had made in his youth. Sue assisted by keeping hold of the rope, feeding more as needed. Greg identified his search grid and methodically launched and dragged his hook "MacGyver" style. Within about 45 minutes the chairs were located and hoisted back on the dock. Thanks, Greg and Sue. I appreciate you!!

Roy & Susan
Roy and Susan have been exceptional neighbors. We all know what a drive and expense hotels are from Sunset Bay. They opened their home to us for the past 6 months as a place to stay while we were building. They even let us stay when they were out of town. They let our contractors use water from their house before ours was connected. Roy and Susan even watered our seed to get the grass growing. If packages or appliances were being delivered and Michael was not on site, they would accept them, make sure they worked and lock the house up after the delivery. Roy was invaluable as an ARC member when challenges arose with our build. After those discussions, the ARC hat came off and the neighbor hat was again in place. They have gone above and beyond the good neighbor meaning and we now consider them family. We are looking forward to years of friendship. Thank you Roy and Susan!!!

Reggie & Nancy
For the last 13+ years (twice a month), Reggie and Nancy have given their time and energy to prepare meals for our Sharps Chapel senior community. But what they provide goes far beyond food. They bring kindness, fellowship, and a sense of being cared for - something that means so much to everyone who gathers. Not only does the senior community of Sharps Chapel benefit from this and appreciate it from the bottoms of their hearts but so do residents of Sunset Bay. Their dedication, generosity, and consistency truly makes a difference in our community. It's the kind of quiet service that doesn't ask for recognition but absolutely deserves it.
Rick & Janet
Also needing recognition are Rick and Janet for their incredible dedication to our senior luncheons. Their work begins well before the luncheons - they spend time on Tuesday preparing the food, setting up tables/chairs, decorating and making sure everything is ready. Then on luncheon day, they're there again, helping to serve food, cleaning up the food, tearing down the tables/chairs and staying until everything is cleaned up. Their commitment, hard work, and willingness to do whatever is needed truly keeps everything running smoothly. It's a wonderful example of selfless service to our community.
Renee & Dianna
Also deserving of recognition are Renee and Dianna. Behind every great meal is a lot of hard work and they make sure everything is cleaned, dried and ready to go again. Their help with the dishes at our senior luncheons may happen behind the scenes but it is absolutely essential and deeply appreciated. Their willingness to step in and serve with such a positive spirit helps everything run smoothly and makes a big difference for everyone involved.
